Witchy Wednesday: My Halloween Workspace

Halloween is my favorite time of the year. I get to pretend I'm a set decorator for shows like Penny Dreadful. One of my favorite past times is figuring out how to recreate props I see on spooky tv shows. Part of the fun is trying to do it all for very little money. This gets the creative juices flowing.

This year I wanted to transform my letter writing desk into a witch's desk. Most of the items used were things I already had around the house. My biggest purchase was extra candles. I find them for a good price at Ikea. A full tour of my desk transformation is provided in the video below. Witchy Wednesday: DIY Spooky Bookshelf

Happy Wednesday. We're busy in Florida today getting ready for Hurricane Matthew. Many of us have to postpone our Fall decorating until after the winds pass us by later this week. 

But, for those of you not in the path of the storm, I've got another paper crafting project for your Halloween decor. Take a look at how a simple paper bag can transform your bookshelf into something old and spooky. 

Witchy Wednesday Series: My Garden Grimoire

From now until Halloween I'll be sharing different ways paper crafting and a little creativity can be used to decorate on a very small budget. I've always challenged myself to decorate for Halloween without spending much money. One year, I cut out tons of bat silhouettes from sheets of black construction paper. They were taped all over walls. People thought I was a genius. I think I spent a total of $5 and a few hours of my time. It can be done. 

Let's kick things off this year with a handmade junk journal made from a cereal box. I'm calling it my "grimoire" because French words just have a way of adding a special patina to just about anything. This book will used to decorate my Witchy Workspace in October.
