Witchy Wednesday Series: My Garden Grimoire

September 28, 2016 by Tammy Wright in Journaling, Creating

From now until Halloween I'll be sharing different ways paper crafting and a little creativity can be used to decorate on a very small budget. I've always challenged myself to decorate for Halloween without spending much money. One year, I cut out tons of bat silhouettes from sheets of black construction paper. They were taped all over walls. People thought I was a genius. I think I spent a total of $5 and a few hours of my time. It can be done.

Let's kick things off this year with a handmade junk journal made from a cereal box. I'm calling it my "grimoire" because French words just have a way of adding a special patina to just about anything. This book will used to decorate my Witchy Workspace in October. What is a Witchy Workspace you ask? More to come on that. For now, here's what I've got for you this week.

Traveler's Notebook Summer Pages

September 22, 2016 by Tammy Wright in Journaling

Summer is over. Today is the Autumn Equinox. Mercury is no longer in retrograde and the wheel of the year turns to Mabon. In other words - It's Fall, Y'all. I am so happy.

Summer in Florida is downright miserable. To be honest, I often get the blues in August/September because the heat is so awful. In addition to heat, we have the rainy season. The sauna-like weather makes it difficult to be outside and do the things I love to do. This affects everything. My mood, productivity, and creativity all suffer.

I did manage to stick with journaling throughout the summer season. Here's a look at my weekly layouts over the past few weeks. How did you beat the summer heat this year?

Snail Mail On The Go

September 15, 2016 by Tammy Wright in Letter Writing

For the past few months, I've been researching ways to take my snail mail supplies on the go with me. As a Letter Writers Alliance member, I am often involved in mail art meetups in my area. It's nice to be able to take favorite tools and stationery to share with others.

I had an idea of what I wanted. I didn't want a travel case. I wanted a wooden tool box. Finally, this month, I found exactly what I was looking for in the form of an affordable art supply box.

It is the perfect size and meets all my needs. For a more detailed view of the box, be sure to check out my video below. In addition to the wooden box, I also found a use for all those Altoids tins I've been saving. They are perfect for housing postage stamps, ink cartridges, calligraphy nibs, etc.

With the help of some Instagram inspiration, I decided to alter my tins to look like mini parcels. It's amazing what some vintage stamps and Tim Holtz washi tape can do to add a special patina to those adorable little storage vessels.

All items purchased with my own money. This is not a sponsored video. Thank you for your support.
